What better way to end the summer than with a “Month of Free”!  With so much going on in the world these days, and in our country in particular, it feels more important than ever to do everything we can to support nonprofits with excellent resources and tools.  We hope some of the offerings this month will help folks keep moving forward in the face of challenging times.

Pro Bono Consultation Hour
We’re offering a pro bono consulting hour to all of our clients because sometimes all you need to shed light on something is a helpful voice on the other end of the phone. We all get so busy that we miss the simple updates, solutions or strategies that can make a world of difference in our day to day lives. While we’ve already met with many of you, our offer of a pro bono consulting hour will go right up to Dreamforce, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with us (meghan@swiftriverconsulting.com or katie@swiftriverconsulting.com) this month or next!  Here are some of the topics we can cover together:

Migrating to Lightning
When should you convert to Lightning? The answer depends on your priorities, bandwidth and users. Now that Lightning has almost reached feature parity with the classic interface, we recommend that everyone at least enables Lightning so that a system administrator can start using the new interface before end users. You can learn more about the conversion process during the Build Your Lightning Experience Rollout Plan webinar from Salesforce.org on September 6th @10am PDT. If you can’t make the webinar, you can register anyway to receive the recording afterward. We’re also happy to discuss the conversion process with you.

Dreamforce 2017
It’s official! The Dreamforce keynote speakers this year include:

  • Michelle Obama (Former First Lady)
  • Ashton Kutcher (Actor, Thorn)
  • Sylvia Acevedo (Girl Scouts of the USA)
  • Jenna Hager (NBC’s Today)
  • Barbara Bush (Global Health Corp)

If you’re thinking about attending Dreamforce for the inspirational speakers, free training, nonprofit sessions, networking, etc, we’re happy to chat about how to make the most of the event. If you can’t swing the $450 entrance free, you can also consider the Free Expo Pass which will allow you to meet popular app vendors. (Note: the expo pass does not give you access to the Salesforce.org zone)

Online Program Delivery Workbook
Our well-respected friends over at Idealware have been working hard to help nonprofits make smart technology decisions, most recently in the realm of online program delivery. Their latest publication called Innovating Program Delivery helps organizations identify their program management needs and get started with the right tools. Idealware is also offering a three session course called Tools and Strategies for Online Program Delivery starting September 14th. The session topics include:

  • Session 1: Providing Self-Serve Information
  • Session 2: Helping Clients Remotely
  • Session 3: Building Communities

If you’re interested in learning about Program Delivery resources and best practices you can register here.

Quickbooks Online Lightning Component
We’ve been working behind the scenes with MK Partners to produce a new lightning component, which displays a snapshot of Quickbooks Online information within a Salesforce record. This slick little widget can display any Quickbooks Online fields that you choose, on any object you choose. Here’s an example of what it can look like on a sample Invoice record in Salesforce, but you can place it on the Account or Opportunity record or even custom object records!

Remember, you must have enabled the Lightning interface in order to use this widget.  If you’re interested in beta testing the new component, please contact Meghan at Meghan@swiftriverconsulting.com.

NPSP Days in Washington DC, Portland and San Francisco
Just a reminder that Swift River’s very own Katie McFadden will be in Washington DC, Portland and San Francisco in the next couple months helping to host NPSP Days. What the heck is an NPSP Day you ask? The day is about surfacing community knowledge from colleagues to produce as many “aha” moments as possible.  We’re each other’s most valuable trainers because we live and breathe Salesforce tools everyday. It’s like the Power of Us HUB, but live. We hope you can join us:

** Katie McFadden will be at this NPSP Day.
